Here I am, another user chiming in with the same issue. High frequency whine whenever the microphone is active (eg being used by a service or program). It's clearly heard when opening and closing such programs (mine primarily being Mumble). I've been reading through this thread start to finish and to be honest, it's making me sick.

It seems to me that Corsair is dodging the issue by not confirming it, although it has been reported by a boatload of users. It's also CONFIRMED a driver issue: people report the high noise occuring when using the Corsair drivers, and not occuring when using the standard Windows drivers.

The reason the issue might not be detected by Corsair techs is that it's a very high frequency noise and by a little older ears (no, I don't mean that badly, it's just that you lose high frequencies as you get older) it might not be heard. Me, being 22, and a lot of other users with these headsets, CAN however hear this noise and it's very irritating and noticeable when for instance noone is talking on Mumble. I can also CONFIRM that pressing the mute button on the inline controller makes the noise louder.

Why, RAM GUY, do you seem to give us random 'solutions' that do not fix anything at all? RMAing doesn't help, changing the settings doesn't help, trying it on a different PC results in the same issue. It's a driver issue and it can only be figured out on your end. Like your last post, changing the settings is not going to help, users already tried everything and nothing helps against this issue. The only thing that helps is deinstalling the drivers and using the standard Windows ones. And in doing so you lose the EQ (which is unmissable for this headset, flat EQ sounds horrible) and the surround features. We didn't spend premium money for that.

The only things us Corsair users want to know: 1) is the issue officially confirmed? IT SHOULD BE. Are Corsair programmers working on resolving the issue? THEY SHOULD BE.

Yeah having the same issue with my headset. Just got them in today any new clues on a fix for this problem? Just a constant white noise whenever a program is using the microphone. White noise is reduced when you max out the mic volume, but still is very noticeable.

Same problem here... only way i can get rid of it is to remove the Corsair Driver and use Windows Direct Sound.

Srly Corsair fix ur drivers...

Looks like the only thing Corsair is good at is PSU and RAM.

Here is one solution I found...(only tested on windows 7)
uninstall the corsair driver(the program has close to no options anyway)
let windows install its own driver for it
Win!
you get access to all the same feature with the microsoft driver except for the equalizer. losing the equalizer is totally worth it for no hissing sound IMO.
but most people won't notice it unless they have sensible ears anyway.
You even get the option Bass booster which you don't even get with the corsair driver.(at least not for me)
you can turn the virtual 7.1 in the recording property. i don't know if it perform the same or not though... I don't have anything 7.1 to test.
now i just need to find a way to get rid of the little buzzing sound when recording.

Been following this since they replaced my HS1 with this faulty vengeance 1500. Why did Corsair release this headset with such a huge design flaw? Any ETA on the 1500 V2.0 without the buzzing noise? I could probably try every single 1500 ever produced and still get the same noise. What changed between the HS1 (worked perfectly) and the 1500? Why didn't you just kept it. What was wrong with the HS1? What's the point of changing a product that actually works to something with a design flaw?

Well until they can hear what we hear and/or replicate the problems, I assume we shouldn’t hold our breath.

Hope maybe? :)

Default Corsair 1500 mic whine

Hi I have that whining noise with the mic as stated in this thread.

http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthre...102177&page=10

Exact same problems: No noise until mic is activated by some program, it becomes louder with volume switch thing, etc. And yes I've tried fixing it like everyone else and nothing worked. I read the whole thread and became really annoyed by them closing it. So many people have this problem and it's completely ignored. So, my first Corsair product my in fact become my last. Doesn't seem like they care about me that much.

The thread was closed because it was not offereing any help only adding to a myth that was not true.
There is not known issue but we do indeed listen and as noted in that thread on a few posts there are some things that should be done to isolate the issue.
First and formost would be to test the head set on another system and see if the noise follows the headset, Have you done that? If yes what was the out come?

First, I know you have to tell us it doesn't exist because the company doesn't want to admit it's there.
Second, this product was released a year ago. I think by now any myths about this mic problem would have been dead or dismissed as false.

1. I connected the headset to my laptop, WinVista(for the first time).
2. I noticed no problems. I did the same things to repeat the 'whine' as I would with my desktop. Did a couple test recordings; No problems.
3. I installed the Corsair v1500driver_1-1_1.exe drivers.
4. Actually I got surprised because I didn't hear any problems!
5. BUT it still persists. ONLY when the mic is directly activated, as in, when it's recording. Normally on my desktop I hear the 'whine' when I open Audacity, open Recording Devices, open Skype options, etc. Those aren't directly activating the mic? But on my laptop I can't hear it until I start recording with Audacity, start a call on Skype, etc

Like other people said. The 'whine' is louder when the mic switch is off (red). But I only noticed this on my laptop, not desktop.

Just now I had my niece take a "hearing test". She's 15, and we all know younger people have better hearing. The point is: She heard it. Every time I activated the mic she told me it made a noise.

If you need more info I'll gladly give all the information I have. Why? Because I don't believe doing an RMA will fix it.
