Default AX1200 fan noise

I installed a new AX1200 today. It makes a really annoying high pitched sound.

At first I thought it was coil whine, but I narrowed it down to the fan. When I stick something between the fan blades before powering up the unit is completely silent. You only hear the high pitch sound once everey few second when the fan powers up shortly to try and spin up. So I am certain it is the fan.

I guess something is wrong with the motor or it's improperly balanced.

EDIT: Also, the fan never powers down as it is supposed to. It's constanly spinning.

You should go ahead and get it replaced. If you still have time left with your reseller, i would go there first. It would be the fast method.

If not ,you can use the link on the left to start your RMA.

Thanks for the reply. I already requested a RMA, because I thought Corsair wants to handle its own customer service. I remember my H80 saying as much at least.

However, I acidentally stepped on the original box while I was installing the AX1200. Is it a problem when I put it in another box (properly protected of course)? And do I have send the cables and the bags and such with it? It would seem to me that this would be unnecessary.

The box issue is no problem. As long as you have it protected good all should be fine.

Corsair recently changed the way they are handling PSU returns . You used to keep all your cables and such, but now they are requesting that everything be sent back.

I hope tha helps some.
