You can use type 3 cables for everything on that PSU, if you want enhanced voltage ripple cancellation go with type 4 cables for everything but the 24pin as the type 3 is the only one that will fit....

sounds like a cable issue only way to know for sure is trying to recreate the problem some how, if the issue come back and pulling the cable out fixes again i would try another PCIE cable or EPS12...

Case fan silencer rubber rings

I have a Corsair Vengeance C70 Case that has these little rubber grommets, Im rebuilding a new rig but im keeping this case but some of these rubber "o-rings?" for the fan mounts need to be replaced....

Jonny did you get a chance to open a AX760i yet? I firmly believe this issue effects AX860i PSUs as well. After talking to a tech he said it should have been revised in later batches.
