please pray for my corsair baby.

so i just installed the h70 core with a couple of xigmatek fans into my corsair baby. the first day, everything was great. nice and quiet. great temps. looks awesome (see pics below) great big smiles all around.

the second day, not so much. that's when the evil pump noise started.

i have a 600t with a window and it's normally very quiet. i'm not sure how much more i can take of the pump noise.

i've read around the forums and this appears to be a common problem. i am following some of the suggestions in hopes it may be air bubbles. the patient is currently on her side and the noise has abated.

i will leave her like this for a day or so. i am in no hurry to rma this thing as despite the little installation video by the corsair guy, this thing was a pain in the butt to install. took about an hour. i might just be slow also.

please keep her in your prayers. thanks.

If you read the forums, try some of the fixes, I got my H100 last week, I have had that awful noise three times all brought on by closing the 650D chassis, the latches are similar to yours on the 600T, when they snap shut the noise begins. So far just simple tapping and it goes away. Strange when I first unpacked the H100 powered it up on my desk and in the horizontal position the noise began, when turned upright in my hand the noise went away, yours sounds like the opposite. I posted some info that might help you in the pump noise thread. All the best...

This is curious, if not concerning. Why is this happening? This is not the same unit as the H100/H80. This is from Asetek, not CoolIt. Very strange. The original H50 and H70 units never had a noise issue that I am aware of.

so, after reading the forums all day. i decided to try and disconnect the fan power leads from the pump.

:D: no more horrible noise. just that little buzz which appears to be normal and is inaudible over the case fans and the side cover on.

running prime95 and everything's looks good so far.

i am so glad you guys are way smarter than me.

oh, and thanks for the prayers. must've worked.

Flip the rad ! In your orientation the air will sit in the tubes at the top of the rad making it much easier to flow into the pump. Flipping the rad will allow any extra air to sit in the top of the rad far away from the tubes and much less likely to be pulled into the pump ;):

hi yall,

day 3 and all i well. just the nice little buzz that you have to get close to hear.

here are some of my observations when i adjust the speed via my smart fan control in the bios.

the old h70 core that i returned ran at 1300-1800 rpms. made lots of noise.

the new h70 core that i got runs 900-1400 rpms. nice and quiet except if i run it at 900. has an odd sound then. so i just keep it at 1400.

just fyi.

Looks like the unit is good. I am little curious on your temps..

the core temps are all below 70c. the package temp hits 71c.

but, i'm upgrading my motherboard. my current gigabyte z68-ud3 requires more tweaking and voltage than i would like to run at 4.5.

i found a z68-ud5 for a steal. has 20 power phases verses the 7 on the ud3.

i guess that's better. more is better, right? maybe we'll try a little more serious oc.

and, still quiet. loving it.
