I bought a 16GB flash voyager right around April that worked perfectly till about last week. I had it plugged into my Macbook running Snow Leopard and backed up some school related documents. Several days later I plugged it in to transfer more files and OSX's Finder would not recognize anything being plugged in, but the blue light on the flash drive would blink, and disk utility would show a 16gb Corsair drive. I plugged it into a Win 7 machine and it found it without a problem. I thought it was problem with my Macbook and tested several different thumb drives across both USB ports but they were all detected without a problem. I backed up the files on the Win 7 machine, reinserted the flash drive to my Mac and formatted using Disk Utility. I took the drive and plugged it back into the Win 7 machine hoping that I could just transfer my files back. The Win 7 machine said it needed to be formatted. I attempted to format it on the Win 7 machine, but it only created a 200 MB partition. Using the Win 7 disk utility, it showed the drive had a 200 MB partition and the rest of the space was in another, but it was untouchable. After I ejected the drive and I tried physically removing it, the casing slid off, leaving the exposed USB circuit board sticking out of my computer. Not really wanting to shock myself on this make shift taser, I turned off my computer and removed the drive.

I'm not really sure where to go from here, as I believe the drive is defective physically and electronically.

Hello,
The person that I've sold it to tells me that when he received it, it was encrypted and asked for a password, and that he tried formatting it as FAT32 and NTFS, and that in both cases the drive reported that it had only 200mb of space available.

Other than suggesting that he try the SD Formatter tool, is there anything else I can suggest he try?

I'm fairly confused about the encrypted/password thing because I never encrypted any contents on the drive.

Hiya,

I have a VoyagerMini 4GB that has taken a knock while in a laptop, the device as snapped in two right at the end of the gold connectors that go into the USB socket. Not good. :[pouts:

This device is tiny and there are no visible PCB tracks to which temporary USB connections can be made to read the data. The device is not even made on a traditional PCB, it's more like a resin covered 'substrate'.

The only saving grace might be the 6 gold pads at the other end of the device. Does anyone know if these pads map to the USB connectors or could they be used to recover the data from the device? My guess is they are used in the manufacturing/testing process, but may provide the 'emergency' connectivity I'm after.

Cheers

Hi

Around one month ago I bought this beautiful 32GB Survivor via a web shop. The package arrived in no time in the original sealed package and the Survivor was exactly what I expected it to be, perfect (like most of Corsairs products). Two weeks ago I converted the drive from Fat32 to NTFS and life was still perfect.

This morning I copied some files I needed in the office from my home PC onto the Survivor and shut down the PC before removing the flash drive. In the office I booted my laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate x64) and once running I entered the drive in a free USB slot. I heard the familiar “Dong” when the drive was entered in the free USB slot but no Corsair showing up in windows explorer and no removable drive in the Disk Manager. The blue led that normally blinks most of the time was nowhere to find… it excelled in its absence. (note I've been using Survivor on my laptop on daily basis before without issues)

Then I tried the same with the office computer running Windows Xp Pro (32bit) and also here "a" USB device was recognized but no removable drive in explorer and drive manager.

Back home before typing this post I tried the whole thing again without success… which leads me to conclude that or my (and office) systems have lost the ability to recognize Survivor… or Survivor has lost the ability to make it visible to the computers….

I appreciate your assistance in having this Survivor working again.

Regards

I purchased a Voyager GT 16GB stick about one year ago, and have been very happy with it, however last week I forgot to empty my pockets and it went through the wash. Now it's dead :(:

I thought I'd ask if there is any possibility of a replacement. I have a vague memory that water immersion and "being put through a washing machine" were cited as survivable and covered by the lifetime warranty, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, is it possible to get a replacement?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

However, I'm very careful and always use "Safely Remove Hardware" or "Eject" via Computer.

On plugging in the drive today, the blue activity LED constantly flashes.

Then Windows advises me that it recommends a scan as the file system is corrupt.

However, the scan hangs (blue light is now off).

Reinserting the drive into a USB port, the LED constantly flashes.

No formatting programs will work, including the ones recommended here (including fdisk).

I know it's not my PC as my other Voyager drive works fine.

Is there anything else I can try, or is it a matter of RMA'ing it via the retailer?

Thank you for your time.

But I have some questions before receive and use it.

1) Actually I live in London but I'm French, I know the question is a little stupid, but is there a problem if the key is based on english language and I use a french computer (normally no, but I ask the question) ?

2) I am going to format the key into NTFS, I know how I have to do, it is not the problem, but I am not sure, often, in the usb key, you have some files with autoexec. or integrated program, this usb key is in this case ? If yes, if I format, do I have a way to recover these files ?

3) I am going to use the usb key to install Windows 7 on a other computer (Windows created tools to make usb installer for Windows 7), do you know any problem about this ?

I thank you in advance !

I've been having problems with this stick since I bought it.
At first I thought it might be trouble with some vista-settings, since I had just gotten my first HP-laptop with Vista. But with my work laptop I have the same problem. It appears as a drive in my computer, but asks me to insert a disk in the drive when I try to open it.
I've also tried it on a third laptop (Dell) and on my samsung dvd-reciever. Both places the stick seems to work every now and then. So I usually have to insert and remove it about ten times before it works.
I suspect there might be a weak spot in the stick causing most of this.

What to do?

Hi,
I just bought today a USB Flash Stick Corsair Survivor CMFUSBSRVR-16GB.

After the first time use when the driver's were first installed I unplugged the drive.
Then I plug the drive in.
A blue light on the usb stick appears and it stays 1.50-2 minutes.
I can see the drive listed in windows explorer.
I try to access the drive (to list its contents) and the windows explorer and it simply shows me the "wait" cursor for about 1.5-2 minutes before I can access the drive's files.
This happens EVERY time I plug in the USB Stick.

A few more details:
-The Slow Detection happens in my current O.S: Windows 7 Enterprise 6.1.7600 32Bit.
-The Slow Detection doesn't happen on the same computer in Windows Vista Business 32Bit.
-I've tried another usb-stick from another manufacturer on same computer, Windows 7 Enterprise and the Slow Detection doesn't happen.
-The Corsair Drive doesn't have speed issues for reading/writing after I can access it. It has ~31-32MB/s Read 10.0-10.7 MB/s Write reported by Total Commander on a 700MB avi file copy.

I've noticed that I'm not the only one on the forum with this problem. There are a few others that complain about their Flash Voyager Slow Detection in Windows 7. So please enlighten us if you can :)

My thoughts:
This looks to me like a Driver Issue since the Slow Detection doesn't happen on the same computer in Windows Vista.
I will try to install windows 7 on another machine and see if the same behavior occurs.

What I would like to know is:
1) Did Corsair test their Survivor USB Flash Stick on Windows 7 Enterprise 6.1.7600 32Bit? Did the Slow Detection issue ever occur? Any other known issues that I should be aware of?

2)Which driver do you think is the problem? Motherboard's? Corsairs USB Flash Stick Driver? Some other driver? Some other problem?

3)Any thoughts on how I can fix this annoying problem? (waiting 2 minutes before you can access the drive is not acceptable).
Thanks for your time.
