Sorry for jumping in on this thread but I suffer from the same temp issues with H100. I have opened a separate thread on my H100 temp issues but I'll describe what I have just to prove the point of the OP.
I use i7 3770K and Asus P8Z77-V-Deluxe MOBO.
I also used the thermal paste that's on the pump and used my own Formula 7 paste.
I had a noisy H100 which on idle 1.6Ghz 0.98Vcore had 19~22 degrees.
AWESOME! Isn't it?
Just to be clear here, the motherboard monitoring application that's on Asus CD, is not accurate at all and have slow polling rate for the thermal status.
On lower temps, both RealTemp and Asus Ai Suite showed similar results, but as the temps went high, Asus Ai suite was inaccurate to the point it is useless.
I have contacted Kevin Glynn - the guy behind RealTemp, he assured me that the application reading are accurate as they can be (While Tjmax is set to 105 for Ivy). His answer was to my question regarding temp sensor calibration.
Yesterday I have received the revised version of H100 after selective RMA.
The noise is gone, but guess what, the temps are higher then expected for water cooling. They are high as my old Air cooling of Xigmatek Achilles SD1284 handled in idle.
For the same specs as 1.6Ghz, 0.98Vcore I get 33degrees.
So, i hardly believe you guys when you say it's perfectly normal for H100, it's far from normal.
But let's talk load temp rather then idle.
4.5Ghz @ 1.22Vcore 10 minutes load test with PRIME95 I get up to 75degrees with H100...
Now guess how my old Xigmatek air cooling did at the same specs?
76~79 degrees!
That's no way near good for H100 WATER cooling kit.
Now I don't know if to RMA it or get a refund and go back to air cooling for much much lower price.
